The editor amounts to journalist and creative director of a format all in one person. They always visualize their topics and the results of their research, they always have to have, even prior to the begin of filming, a creative concept and a filming schedule and must be perfectly able to communicate their concepts and schedules to their camera team, protagonist and cutter later on.
The TV editor is the glue that holds a TV-report together: He researches, schedules interviews and filming appointments, books camera teams and reserves the cutting studio. During filming he is not only the one to conduct the interviews, he also takes the part of the director on the scene.
Working in the cutting studio he words whatever needs to be said in the format, explains the creative concept to the cutter and puts it with the cutter into practice.
Finally, he is held responsible by the TV-station and the viewers, for content and design.
